Overview

The Nurse Trainer / Educator performs the functions of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating in the clinical area. Plans, supervises and coordinates the educational at needs of the LPNs and Medical Assistants (MA) at onboarding and ongoing.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved Nursing education program.
  • Active valid licensed as an LPN in the state of Georgia.
  • Certification as a Nurse Educator (CNE) preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) training or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing procedures in an ambulatory health care setting and clinical expertise.
  • Background in working with adult, pediatric and multi-cultural populations.
  • Familiarity in case management with obesity, hypertension, and diabetes.
  • Proficiency in athenaOne EHR.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent phone etiquette.
  • Working expertise of the Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a collaborative environment by encouraging teamwork and shared learning across departments.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive onboarding and orientation programs for newly hired LPNs and MAs.
  • Provide ongoing clinical education, competency assessments, and hands-on training to ensure compliance with clinical standards and best practices.
  • Conduct regular workshops and in-service training sessions tailored to each specialty (i.e. Family Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, etc.).
  • Ensure staff remain current with changes in policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices.
  • Collaborate with clinical leads and preceptors to assess the educational needs of staff and design individualized development plans.
  • Mentor and coach LPNs and MAs, promoting clinical growth and professional development.
  • Observe staff during patient interactions to provide constructive feedback and improve patient care delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to infection control policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas where additional training may enhance clinical outcomes.
  • Assist in the development and review of clinical guidelines, protocols, and educational materials.
  • Monitor staff performance, track training completion, and ensure proper documentation of all educational activities.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure clinic continued accreditation/recognition and compliance with Joint Commission, Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), state and federal regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and leadership, ensuring smooth communication and coordination of educational initiatives.
  • Work closely with providers to understand their needs and incorporate specialty-specific training.
  • Performs and directs nursing care and patient education as appropriate; develops and monitors patient care plans for assigned patients, completes treatments or procedures ordered by providers and assists them with any procedures when necessary.
  • Continues to maintain appropriate nursing certification through clinical medical education or continuing educational units.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
